Crystal Lake (Fitsum Map) : July 27, 2005 trip to scatter our friend Steve's ashes. Steve always hiked in cross country, across a huge rock face. Some of us took the official trail this time, which is longer (six miles round trip) - still a tough hike but less dangerous.

Boulder Lake : Relatively easy hike on excellent trail, 45 minutes in. Take Boulder Mountain Road to Boulder Reservoir. Trailhead to the left. Boulder Lake generally has good fishing, especially at the far end. From there you can hike to Rapid and Anderson lakes, though it would be a long haul to do one of these on the same day and hike all the way out.

Cly Lakes-Middle Cly : See maps under Little Cly. The hike from Little to Middle is a tough one. There's a trail that is more ot less a continuation of the trail into Little Cly; but, instead of going down to Little Cly, continue on the trail and watch for cairns (markers made of three or so stones). The trail takes you down a dusty route to a good sized meadow (maybe not the right word for it) and through it. Continue on the trail, cross Cly Creek, and head up. It's pretty clear from there and well marked. But go back and find the trail if you lose it. Expect to take 1.5 to 2 hours each way from trailhead to Middle Cly, and bring plenty of water. Leave any wimps at Little Cly.

Hum Lake : Coming Attraction, since I need to get in to take some recent photos. Here posted, though, are some shots of the "trail" we use, an alternative to the official trail via Duck Lake. These are taken from the Little Cly trail, near the crest over which you pass before Little Cly comes into sight.

Cly Lakes-Little Cly 8-16-03 : There actually are three, the two identified on the first map and Little Cly, the destination on Map 2. Little Cly is a fairly short but steep hike. You can catch a few small trout here. From Little Cly to Middle and Big is more difficult. These have been good fishing lakes.

Upper Hazard Lake : Often visited small lake, easily accessible via a well marked trail from Hazard Lake. Highway 55 north of McCall, right on Goose Lake Road near Brundage ski area, turns into Hazard Lake road. Worth a visit - pretty hike, usually easy fishing for small trout.
